We are committed to the development of a housing community in which people of all backgrounds, race, ethnic origins and life position can live together in a mutually respectful manner. We believe every resident has the capability and should have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to our community and society as a whole. We call on the integrity and dignity of each and every resident to contribute and commit to the values identified herein, and will reflect these values in the management of our individual relationship to each resident and to the resident body as a whole.
Our policies and philosophy have been developed with great care over two decades by CPDS. More detailed information is available in the Tenant Handbook which will soon be available on our web site.
The Community Centers
Our community center is the heart of our community. It’s place where residents can find new paths to personal growth while fostering the kinds of relationships that build a strong and vibrant community. Programs and activities aimed at expanding cultural, employment and educational horizons are available to all residents. Among them: Child Care, Head Start, after-school tutoring, employment assistance, community meals and recreational activities. Encouraging positive social development in our young people is a top priority. Computer labs provide access to new technology and the information superhighway.
The installation of two state-of-the-art computer centers in the Northport Apartments and the Packer Townhouses is the culmination of several years of effort on the part of Carmen Porco and CPDS. The purchase of the hardware for labs, which serve as a training and education site for the residents and (soon) the surrounding community, were made possible through the cooperation of a number of partners. Residents and the on-site coordinators (who are also residents) facilitate the use of the labs.
